How We Operate SVRS is funded in part by Albemarle and Fluvanna counties; however, much of our annual budget comes from fundraising efforts, such as our Mail Fund Drive and our Photo Fund Drive. The Scottsville community generously provides monetary donations that assist with our day-to-day operations. Albemarle County Fire Rescue (ACFR) provides us with two career personnel for our 6 AM to 6 PM shift, Monday through Friday (except holidays). At all other times, our building is staffed by volunteer personnel. In addition to covering our regular first-due service area, we also do stand-bys at many community events, including Monticello High School home football games. We also assist other area rescue squads on mutual aid calls that might overwhelm their resources. All of our EMS personnel are trained and certified by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. Providers complete mandatory continuing education and training each year in order to ensure they provide the best pre-hospital care possible.
